Citigroup At It Again...

I am not a very big fan of this whole "Bailout" thing, so this news makes me feel a little better about how the Obama Administration will oversee it. This would have never happened under the Bush Administration. These Corporate Exec's just don't get it...

I got a coffee table book for Christmas entitled "Roadside Americana" and it is full of tacky, bizarre stuff like this. "Muffler Giant", Dade City, Florida.

Photo of the Day 13/365

I have been shooting photos everyday...I just haven't been posting everyday. This is one I shot at a used car dealership in Dade City, Florida. I have always been fascinated by these stupid shiny, ribbon, streamer things that you see at the cheesiest of used car dealerships. I thought it looked kinda nice with the bright blue and silver against the deep blue, morning sky.

Photo(s) of the Day 12/365

This is an abandoned trailerpark that I found in Pinellas Park, Florida. The lighting wasn't really like I would have preferred, so I am going to have to make another trip to see if I can get something more like I had envisioned.

Volunteering

These are images from a volunteering event that my girlfriend Lisa and I did with our friends Rob and Heidi and their daughter Fiona. Heidi works for the Tampa Bay Rays and they held a community outreach volunteer event today with Tampa Bay Watch to plant mangroves and salt marsh grass in an area of Terra Ceia, Florida that had been affected by a storm.

Photo(s) of the Day 7/365

These are a couple of random shots that I took today. I had to drive to Gainesville for work and I stopped to get gas near Ocala, Florida. There was a "Citrus" stand next to the gas station. There were thoudands of oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, etc. in crates like these. The second shot I took in an alley behind Zebra Color Photo Lab in St. Petersburg...they do really good work by the way, check them out. I was actually picking up a couple of prints when I noticed this couch, which I thought contrasted very nicely with the dirty little alley.

Home Forclosures Up = More Pools To Skate

This is an article that I stumbled across in the NY Times. Apparently there is a plethora of pools to skate in California because of rising home foreclosures.

Photo(s) of the Day 3/365

Here are several more old 35mm shots. There are a couple of shots of the SnowCat that I used to drive for Telluride Ski & Golf...sometimes I can't believe that I ever did that and other times I really miss it. It was definitely one of the most amazing/ scary experiences of my life! The third shot is an old abandoned cabin just outside of Telluride. The last shot is Corona Arch, Moab, Utah.

Photo of the Day 1/365

Fishing Pier at sunset, Weedon Island Preserve, St. Petersburg, Florida. Although this image is of a sunset, it could just as easily be a "sunrise"...part of my New Year's Resolution is to take a "Photo of the Day" for 365 days, hence the "1/365". The "Sunrise" is obviously a metaphor for my new beginning, which also includes some pretty drastic changes in various aspects of my life that I have allowed to negatively affect me and the people in my life that I love the most, for far too long. I'm looking forward to my daily photographic journey through 2009.
